“Equal Pay Day – How Far Have We Come?”

Date: Thursday, April 21, 2011

Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Exit 8, Nashua, NH

Have you ever wondered if you’re earning what a man in the same job earns? Generations of women have fought for equal rights, equal recognition and equal pay. Zandra Rice Hawkins, the Legislative Chair for the Business and Professional Women of New Hampshire, and a proud face of pay equity for the future will share the history of pay equity with the Nashua BPW chapter on April 21, 2011. She will highlight the experience of Lily Ledbetter and discuss current advocacy opportunities to ensure fair pay and equality for women so we can continue to honor the generations before us and move forward.

Zandra Rice Hawkins is the founding Executive Director of Granite State Progress and Granite State Progress Education Fund (http://www.granitestateprogress.org), multi‐issue progressive advocacy organizations using media outreach and organizing to provide a strong, credible voice in advancing progressive solutions to critical community problems. Previously, she worked as a national organizer for Corporate Accountability International, mobilizing faith communities to challenge corporate control of water and protect our fundamental human right to water.  An alumnus of Gonzaga University, Zandra lives in Goffstown with her husband Brian and their emerging garden. She was named the Business and Professional Women of New Hampshire's 2009 Young Careerist and currently serves on the state board as Co-Secretary and as the Legislative Chair.

Our Sponsor is Hampshire First Bank– Mortgage Planners Division. (www.MortgagePlannersNE.com) A full service bank that with the recent acquisition of Mortgage Planners of New England now offers the ‘can do’ attitude of an experienced mortgage staff with the financial resources of a regional bank.  Located in Nashua, Manchester, Londonderry, Keene and Portsmouth.

The luncheon takes place from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza, Exit 8, Nashua, NH. The cost is $16.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members. An RSVP is not required. The meeting includes networking, buffet lunch, and speaker.
